ITU Green Standards Week

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will be holding its first Green Standards Week to raise awareness of the importance and opportunities of using information and communication technology (ICT) standards to build a green economy. The event will also provide Ministers and senior representatives from the ICT industry the opportunity to exchange views on how ICTs can help in the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in the run-up to the 17th Conference of the Parties at the end of the year. The Week will include: a Workshop on Methodologies for Environmental Impact Assessment of ICT; a Workshop on Moving to a Green Economy through ICT Standards; and a Workshop on Submarine Cables for Ocean/Climate Monitoring and Disaster Warning: Science, Engineering, Business and Law.
