The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is the intergovernmental body that assesses the state of biodiversity and of the ecosystem services it provides to society, in response to requests from decision makers. IPBES is placed under the auspices of four United Nations entities (UNEP, UNESCO, FAO and UNDP) and is administered by UNEP. Its secretariat is hosted by the German Government. The fifth session of the Platform's Plenary (IPBES-5) will take place from 7-10 March 2017, in Bonn, Germany. The Plenary will be preceded by a stakeholder event on 6 March.
