The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2016 will consider the theme 'Enabling Inclusive and Sustainable Growth'. The IGF is a multi-stakeholder forum that seeks to facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize internet opportunities and address risks and challenges, and support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the outcome of the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on the overall review of the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+10) of December 2015, the UNGA acknowledged the role of the IGF as a multi-stakeholder platform for discussion of internet governance issues, and decided to extend its mandate for another ten years.
