International Women’s Day 2023

The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’. It recognizes and celebrates the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.

The 2023 observance will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities and spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.

To mark the Day, the UN is organizing a high-level event, which aims to provide an opportunity to highlight the role of all stakeholders in improving access to digital tools. The event will include a high-level panel discussion and musical performances.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8 March. It offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
