This high-level event titled 'Follow‐up and Review Mechanisms for Natural Resource Management and Governance to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)' will explore options and possible criteria for cross-cutting follow-up and review mechanisms at the national level, as well as potential synergies and trade-offs among different SDGs that relate to natural resources. The multi-stakeholder event will specifically address: a range of options for developing robust follow-up and review mechanisms that connect the global, regional and national levels; opportunities and possible criteria for the integrated follow-up and review of natural resources related SDGs; and the potential role and contribution of participatory platforms in the follow-up and review of the SDGs. Co-organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany, the Biovision Foundation in Zurich, Switzerland; and Millennium Institute in Washington DC, US, the event will bring together negotiators, national government experts and representatives from UN agencies, scientific institutions, civil society and the business sector.
