7-8 May 2012 San Salvador, El Salvador
International Dialogue on Environmentally Sound Management of E-Waste

The Government of El Salvador and the Basel Convention Regional Center for Central America and Mexico (CRCB-CAM), with support from the Basel Convention Regional Center for South America (CRS-CB) and Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD), will host this discussion of management of post-consumer electronic waste (“e-waste”). Among the topics expected to be discussed are CRCB-CAM's efforts, in coordination with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Development Programme (UNDP), to create an action plan on e-waste for El Salvador that will serve as a model for other Central American and Caribbean nations and an e-waste recycling facility in El Salvador that can serve Central America and the Caribbean. During this dialogue information on a proposal for a pilot e-waste program for Argentina and Uruguay will also be shared. The Dialogue will be followed on 9-11 May by the Fifth Physical Meeting of the Basel Convention's Partnership for Action on Computing Equipment (PACE) Working Group.
