South-South Cooperation on Climate Change Forum

The South-South Cooperation on Climate Change Forum is co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and the UN Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC), WWF-China, UNEP-Tongji-IESD, the UNFCCC Secretariat, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Forum, which will take place in the interval of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC, aims to contribute to a successful post-2015 climate agreement by promoting South-South Cooperation as an integral part of global action against climate change. It provides an opportunity for participants to engage in the ongoing climate talks and provide recommendations on a number innovative actions, policy setting, financing and institutional development to enable rapid scaling-up of South-South Cooperation initiatives. The Forum will bring together ten ministers from Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America and Caribbean, representatives from UN agencies, UNEP, UNDP, UNFCCC, the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), development agencies, and international organizations, leaders of science and business communities, and practitioners from around the world.
