Held on the occasion of the 2016 International Year of Pulses, this conference will provide a platform for scientists, policy-makers, extension workers, traders, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to consider the contributions of pulses to food and nutritional security and ecosystem health. Among other issues, the conference will address the following themes: global scenarios on pulses production, consumption and trade; innovative techniques for pulses improvement and adaptation; diversification and sustainable intensification of agri-food systems through pulses; seed systems, input markets and mechanization; nutrition, fortification, health and food security; and social, economic and policy issues. The conference will also include a knowledge-sharing event to exchange success stories and lessons learnt and to discuss challenges.
The conference is co-organized by the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) – a member of the CGIAR Consortium, the Moroccan section of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the OCP Foundation and the CGIAR Consortium and its Research Program on Grain Legumes.
