[Cancelled] International Conference on Groundwater Resources Management: Adaptation Measures to Water Scarcity Science and Policy Responses

Due to unforeseen circumstances the “Second UNESCO-UCI International Conference on Groundwater Resources Management” has been cancelled. This Conference is jointly organized by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the University of Irvine, California (UCI). This Second UNESCO-UCI 2011 Conference on ‘Groundwater Resources Management’ will evaluate the progress made in groundwater management since the First Conference in 2008. The four themes of the conference are: the role of groundwater in adapting to the impacts of global and climate changes; strengthening groundwater management for sustainable development; innovative methods and technologies for groundwater management; and groundwater education, cooperation and governance. The Conference results will be presented at the 6th World Water Forum (March 2012, Marseille, France) and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20, in June 2012, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
