The conference is being organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The conference aims to: provide an opportunity for information sharing, networking and developing future strategic alliances to enhance a common understanding of the role of the mountains in the green economy; and create a platform and build a constituency for promoting the mountain agenda in the global debate, including in the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
