The Informal Youth Summit of the Future and Local Pacts for the Future will discuss pathways towards youth-led transformative change and effective youth participation in the UN system in the context of preparations for the Summit of the Future in September 2024. The event will convene on the sidelines of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum 2024.
ECOSOC will organize the Summit in collaboration with the International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges (IAAI), Global Citizen and Youth Empowerment System (GloCha), the International Youth Conference (IYC), UN Human Settlements Programme’s (UN-HABITAT) Youth Programme, UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Early Warning and Data Analytics Branch, AFS Intercultural Programs, and others.
The event will explore the feasibility and collaborative planning of an ‘Informal Youth Summit of the Future,’ a proposal developed by the IYC. The Informal Youth Summit would feature non-state actors-led programmes and events, with the aim of agreeing on an action plan for transformative global governance innovations towards inclusive action and impact-oriented citizen and youth engagement and empowerment in global goals implementation.
