The Informal Hearings with Local Authorities Associations in preparation for the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (HABITAT III) will provide the opportunity for local authorities associations to provide feedback on the Zero Draft of the New Urban Agenda, which is expected to be agreed at HABITAT III in Quito, Ecuador, in October 2016. Panel discussions will address key recommendations for Habitat III and from the local authorities constituency from a regional perspective, and presentations by members of the Global Task Force of Local and Regional Governments on transformative commitments for a sustainable urban development. Roundtable discussions will focus on:building the urban structure, and establishing a supportive national, regional and local framework; planning and managing the urban spatial development; enhancing the means of implementation; and follow-up and review of the New Urban Agenda.
