Informal Consultations on UNGA High-Level Meeting on Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants

Dina Kawar, Permanent Representative of Jordan, and David Donoghue, Permanent Representative of Ireland, are convening informal, open consultations with UN Member States, on the organization of a High-Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on large movements of refugees and migrants. The Co-facilitators are inviting initial thoughts and ideas on the organization of the high-level meeting on its: duration and timing; format and structure; participation; preparation; and desired outcome. In Decision 70/239 of 22 December 2015, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) decided to convene a high-level meeting of the plenary of the UNGA on 19 September 2016 to address this issue. UNGA President Mogens Lykketoft appointed the co-facilitators for the consultations on 9 February 2016.
