Implementing SDGs in SIDS: Insights from the Early SIDS MAPS Missions

This event is organized by the Netherlands, UNDP and the UNDP Center of Excellence for the Sustainable Development of SIDS on Aruba, and will take place on the sidelines of the opening of the General Debate for the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72).

The event will focus on reflecting on the lessons learned from integrated Mainstreaming, Accelerating, and Policy Support (MAPS) Missions to Small Island Developing States (SIDS), focused on SDG-implementation. The event will be opened by the Prime Minister of Curacao, Eugene Rhuggenaath, followed by an introduction by Jessica Faieta, UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. Several SIDS, including Aruba, will elaborate on their MAPS mission experience. Lastly, the UNDP Centre of Excellence for the Sustainable Development of SIDS will launch its online “SIDSxSDGS” toolkit aimed to help SIDS policymakers with SDG implementation.
