UNGA High-Level SDG Financing Lab

The President of the General Assembly (UNGA) Peter Thomson will convene a High-Level SDG Financing Lab to highlight the critical importance of sustainable finance for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to strengthen the role of the UN in this regard. It will focus on how to drive the transformation of global financial markets towards alignment with sustainable development, as well as to showcase specific ways in which Member States can approach the financing of different SDGs. The event will comprise an opening segment, an interactive panel discussions and a high-level segment. In the afternoon, the plenary debate will continue alongside three parallel workshops followed by a short closing ceremony. This event is part of a series of 'High-Level SDG Action Events' that will be convened to advance the theme of the 71st UNGA session, to deliver a universal push for implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In a letter to UN Member States, Thomson notes that each event in the series will place a special focus on leaving no one behind and advancing gender equality.
