High-level Political Forum Expert Group Meeting

An Expert Group Meeting will convene to discuss the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, US. The decision to establish a HLPF was part of the outcome of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), which called for establishing “a universal, intergovernmental, high-level political forum, building on the strengths, experiences, resources and inclusive participation modalities of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), and subsequently replacing the Commission”, and for “an intergovernmental and open, transparent and inclusive negotiation process under the General Assembly to define the format and organizational aspects” of the forum. Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, Permanent Representative of Brazil, and Cesare Maria Ragaglini, Permanent Representative of Italy, have been appointed by the President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) to facilitate the negotiations. The concept note and programme of the meeting are now available.
