High-level Dialogue on the Implementation of the UN Decade of Sustainable Energy for All 2014-2019: A Mid-point Review

In 2012, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution 67/215, declaring the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All 2014-2019. In its resolution 73/236 on ‘Ensuring Access to Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable and Modern Energy for All,’ the UNGA invited the UN Secretary-General to convene, in 2019, dialogues “which could consist of a series of events including discussions among energy policy makers and other multi-stakeholders” to discuss the implementation of the Decade, including “the global plan for action for the Decade”.

The high-level dialogue will help inform discussions related to SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) during major 2019 events such as the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July and the Climate Action Summit and SDG Summit in September.

The event is also expected to launch the 2019 SDG 7 Energy Tracking Report and the SDG 7 Policy Briefs as technical contributions to the HLPF and the objectives of the Decade.
