In preparation for the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) regional meeting will provide the opportunity for participants to exchange views and experiences and shape a common vision on the future of cities and human settlements in the region, and identify the tools needed to build them. The meeting will convene under the theme 'Livable and Inclusive Cities: The Global Challenge for Sustainable Urbanization,' and will bring together national and international actors involved in the Habitat III process to identify priorities for sustainable urban development in the region in the coming decades. The statement resulting from the meeting will be included as an official input to the New Urban Agenda, which is expected to be agreed on at Habitat III. The Conference convenes in Quito, Ecuador, from 17-20 October 2016.
