Green Growth Knowledge Platform Regional Practitioners’ Workshop

The Green Growth Knowledge Platform's (GGKP) Workshop on Green Growth in Africa, titled 'Pathways to Green Growth in Africa,' aims to: explore the rationale for green(er) growth in an African context; facilitate policy dialogue and knowledge sharing; and discuss practical implementation issues. The workshop will focus on setting an African green growth vision through thematic sessions and exploring linkages among natural resources management, renewable energy and greening infrastructure. Participants will, inter alia, focus on green growth landscapes in Africa, including a discussion on the specific challenges faced by African countries, such as high dependence on natural resources for growth and rapid infrastructure, and discuss green growth in practice, including discussions on forest-friendly growth in the Congo Basin and parallel sessions designed to facilitate an exchange of ideas and identify areas for collaboration. Also during the workshop, The Program on Forests (PROFOR) will convene sessions, providing a practical introduction for assessing and monitoring forest governance and enhancing climate resilience including through climate change mitigation and adaptation.
