Google+ Hangout on Youth Migration and Development

The UN Focal Point on Youth is organizing a Google+ Hangout on “Youth migration and development: towards sustainable solutions,” as part of activities related to the forthcoming UN World Youth Report 2013. The event will explore the relationship between youth migration and issues such as environmental change, the post-2015 development agenda, access to social services, remittances and social integration. The event will feature a panel of experts on youth migration and development, including: Bela Hovy, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA); Jo Rispoli, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Regional Office, East and Southern Africa; Daniel Pettersson, Permanent Mission of Sweden to the UN; Lonneke van Zundert, youth representative; and Dynka Amorim, young immigrant activist. The event will also include a question and answer session. The Google+ Hangout will also feature a 20-minute live Q&A session with the panelists. Participants can tweet questions to @UN4Youth using #youthmigration or post questions on the UNyouthyear Facebook page. This Google+ Hangout is targeted at young people (15-35 years of age) in addition to UN staff, members of Permanent Missions, civil society, the private sector and academia.
