The 2050 Pathways Platform, Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership, the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Partnership, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and World Resources Institute (WRI), in cooperation with the UNFCCC Secretariat, will convene a workshop to kick off discussion on the process of creating a long-term, low emission and development strategy.

The workshop aims to: engage governments in the development of long-term strategies by outlining importance, advantages and urgency of such strategies; highlight emerging good practice, country experiences, and expert views on and support for developing long-term strategies, as well as related challenges and ways to overcome them; explore the relationship between long-term impacts and near-term climate actions and NDC implementation; and build a community of practitioners to support the development of long-term strategies.
