The Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) is the only Expo solely from the South and for the South. It showcases successful Southern-grown development solutions addressing the need to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The event brings together partners to showcase successes, cement initiatives, build partnerships and launch projects to bring tested development solutions to scale. Launched in 2008 by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, in its capacity as the General Assembly-mandated global and United Nations-wide facilitator of South-South and triangular cooperation, this event seeks to provide economic, social and political dividends that address challenges posed by the MDGs and emerging post-2015 sustainable development agenda. The 2014 Expo will be hosted by the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC, US.
