Global Landscapes Forum 2016

The 2016 Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) will address the theme of ‘Climate Action for Sustainable Development' and will convene on the sidelines of the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The GLF aims to highlight integrated landscape approaches as “the most promising tool” for realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) as outlined under the Paris Agreement. Organized around 30 interactive sessions and exhibitions, as well as online events and a global social media campaign, the discussions will explore diverse sustainable landscape solutions, ranging from climate projects that deliver co-benefits for communities, affordable credit for smallholders, and regional commitments to large-scale restoration of degraded lands. The GLF was inaugurated at COP 19 in Warsaw, Poland, integrating the previous Forest Days and Agriculture and Rural Development Days to create a broad platform of actors involved in landscape research and policy. GLF 2016 is convened by a consortium of coordinating partners, including the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and several other research centers of the CGIAR Consortium, the World Bank, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Credit Suisse, with funding from UKaid and CGIAR.
