Through this e-consultation, stakeholders can give feedback to the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (OWG) regarding the Issue Brief on “Promoting Equality, including Social Equity” in advance of OWG 8, which will focus on promoting equality, including social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment, among other issues. The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), UN Women, UN Development Programme (UNDP) and Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) authored the brief, which addresses widening and mutually reinforcing disparities with regard to: (a)rural/urban; (b) income disparity; (c) gender disparity; (d) ethnic minorities and indigenous people; (e) migrant status and (f) disability. Additional consultation moderators include the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS), Major Group of Children and Youth and the Feminist Task Force of the Global Campaign for Action against Poverty (GCAP). At the conclusion of the consultation, all comments will be synthesized and fed into inequality-related debates during OWG 8.
