15-17 March 2018 Kasane, North-West, Botswana
Giants Club Summit

To accelerate the progress that began in 2016 and to drive significant new interventions, the second Giants Club Summit will be held on the banks of the Chobe River, an area where Africa’s largest elephant population straddles the borders of five countries. It will also celebrate the final month of Seretse Khama Ian Khama's Presidency of Botswana.

More specifically, the Summit will address: evolving enforcement; investment in secured space; review and learning, with a focus on intelligence-led anti-poaching operations, elephant fences to mitigate human-elephant-conflict, reform of the framework for prosecuting wildlife crime, and the mentoring of African conservation journalists in each Giants Club country.

An SDG Knowledge Hub policy brief on wildlife crime, which includes a review of the outcomes from the first Giants Club Summit, is here.
