Generation Equality Forum – Mexico

The Generation Equality Forum is a global gathering for gender equality that seeks to celebrate the power of women's rights activism, feminist solidarity and youth leadership to achieve transformative change, and aims to be a global public conversation for urgent action and accountability for gender equality.

The Forum has three specific objectives:

  • Prepare Action Coalitions;
  • Develop a multilateral feminist strategy to propose and promote accelerated changes towards gender equality in the coming years; and
  • Form a multilateral alliance of countries to promote the gender equality agenda.

The Generation Equality Forum is convened by UN Women and co-chaired by France and Mexico, with the close partnership of civil society.

The Forum is scheduled to kick off in Mexico City, Mexico, from 29-31 March 2021, and culminate in Paris, France, from 30 June-2 July 2021. The kickoff event in Mexico City will include a series of meetings that will address the structural and systemic obstacles that prevent achieving true gender equality and guaranteeing the exercise of the human rights of women and girls globally.
