G7 Environment, Climate and Energy Ministers Meeting 2022

The Group of 7 (G7) Environment, Climate and Energy Ministers Meeting 2022 will take place under the German G7 Presidency, and consider current issues in the areas of climate, energy, and the environment.

Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the G7 Climate and Environment Track:

  • Accelerating the global phase-out of coal;
  • Forced decarbonization of sectors;
  • Systemic change towards environmental sustainability in all areas of life;
  • Combating species extinction; and
  • Initiatives to protect the ocean.

In addition to these, the ministers of the environment, climate, and energy will continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda, which include the sustainable use of resources, adapting to the impact of the climate crisis, and environmentally sustainable supply chains. The German Federal Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection, Steffi Lemke, and the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck, will jointly host and lead the work process of the G7 ministers of the environment, climate, and energy until 31 December 2022.
