G7 Environment, Energy and Ocean Ministers

The G7 Environment, Energy and Ocean Ministers will convene to discuss the theme, 'Working together on climate change, oceans and clean energy'. The meeting will take place as part of Canada’s G7 presidency and will be co-hosted by the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, and the Honourable Jim Carr, Minister of Natural Resources. The meeting will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 19-21 September 2018.

To feed into this meeting, Canada will host the 'Women Leaders Kicking It on Climate Summit.' This Summit will include a dialogue on how climate action can be gender responsive and how it can contribute to gender equity and the empowerment of women.

The 2018 Group of Seven (G7) Leaders' Summit will convene under the presidency of Canada in Charlevoix, Quebec, from 8-9 June 2018. The SDG Knowledge Hub summary of the 2018 Leaders' Summit is here.

The five themes for discussion during Canada's presidency are: investing in growth that works for everyone; preparing for jobs of the future; advancing gender equality and women's empowerment; working together on climate change, oceans and clean energy; and building a more peaceful and secure world.
