Fourth Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas

The Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Americas is a multi-stakeholder forum that brings together key DRR stakeholders throughout the Americas. It is a participative space for knowledge sharing that promotes the planning, monitoring and collective decision making and strategy, as well as actions to implement the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), all with linkages to international and national climate change adaptation efforts. The Fourth Session is co-organized by the UNISDR Regional Office for the Americas (UNISDR – Americas) and Ecuador's Secretariat of Risk Management and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), UN Development Programme (UNDP) and participation planned by subregional DRR organizations. The Platform will feature a high level panel on mainstreaming DRR and climate change adaptation in public policies, as well as four thematic sessions on: risk reduction and special segments of society; DDR, climate change and the development agenda; governance and public policies on risk reduction; regional consultation surrounding the new framework for DDR post-2015 (HFA2).
