3-5 December 2012 Geneva, Geneve, Switzerland
Fourth Meeting of the DDT Expert Group

The DDT Expert Group of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) is mandated to assess, every two years, in consultation with the World Health Organization (WHO), the available scientific, technical, environmental and economic information related to production and use of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) to evaluate continued need of DDT for vector control, the rationale for its listing in Annex B of the Convention. Its Fourth Meeting will review: resistance to DDT and its alternatives; the assessment by the Convention's POPs Review Committee (POPRC) of alternatives to DDT; the transition from DDT in disease vector control; and a decision support tool for vector control. The Group's findings will be reported to the sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 6), which is being held back-to-back with the meetings of the COPs to the Rotterdam and Basel Conventions, from 28 April to 11 May 2013, in Geneva.
