Forests, Trees and Poverty Alleviation in Africa

The side event “Forests, Trees and Poverty Alleviation in Africa” will take place during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2021 and will feature the launch of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO)’s Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP) Programme policy brief entitled “Expanded Policy Brief for African Stakeholders on Forests, Trees and Poverty Alleviation in Africa.”

The launch event will highlight the interactions between forests, trees, and poverty in the context of Africa and contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by highlighting the nexus between SDG 1 (no poverty) and SDG 15 (life on land), as well as links to other relevant SDGs.
