This conference is part of the Africa Sustainable Transport Forum, a high-level platform for discussion and policy decision making. The Forum aims to integrate sustainable transport into Africa's development and planning processes and increase funding to sustainable transport programmes in Africa, with the broader aim of improving access to transport, reducing air pollution and climate emissions, and improving road safety and health. The Forum also aims to share experiences from demonstration and pilot projects and foster South-South exchanges. The Forum intends to hold Ministerial conferences bi-annually, with Sub-Regional conferences in the interim years. The Forum is a partnership among the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and the World Bank. UNEP hosts the Forum Secretariat.
