30-31 March 2016 Incheon, Republic of Korea
First High-Level Follow-up Dialogue on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific

Co-hosted by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, this dialogue will provide an opportunity for policymakers to further review the commitments in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA), and to consider implementation in the Asia-Pacific region. It will also seek to gather regional momentum, scale up efforts and recalibrate the regional financial architecture to lay down “a solid foundation” for supporting implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The meeting is expected to address: regional tax cooperation, and capital markets, securities commissions and regulations in Asia and the Pacific; leveraging funds from institutional investors for long-term infrastructure investment; financial inclusion; climate finance; and South-South cooperation and triangular development cooperation, “with a focus on the countries with special needs”. The dialogue will adopt an outcome document, containing key policy recommendations of a regional plan of action on Financing for Development (FfD). It will serve as key input to the annual ESCAP Session in May 2016, and to FfD deliberations at the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
