14-15 July 2014 Berlin, Germany
Fifth Petersberg Climate Dialogue

The meetings of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an initiative of the German Government, are co-chaired by Germany and the upcoming Presidency of the UN climate negotiations (Mexico in 2010; South Africa in 2011; Qatar in 2012; Poland in 2013; and Peru in 2014). The Dialogue brings together representatives from all regions of the world and all negotiating groups. Discussions are held in an informal style to facilitate an “open and honest” debate. The fifth Petersberg Climate Dialogue will take place under the theme “Addressing the urgency – stepping up our contributions,” and will aim to introduce new ideas into the negotiations and discuss new strategies in preparation for the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC, scheduled to take place in Lima, Peru, in December 2014. The meeting will be presided over by Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks and Peruvian Minister for Environment Manuel Pulgar-Vidal.
