SDG 4 (quality education) will be reviewed in depth at the July 2019 session of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). As part of this review, a Global Education Meeting will take place to: take stock of where we are in terms of progress towards SDG 4; share knowledge about success stories, good practices and challenges; identify particular areas of concern; and suggest ways forward in terms of policies, partnerships and coordinated actions at all levels. These messages will help inform the HLPF, assist in planning its sessions, and serve to influence collaborations and programmes of work going forward from 2019.

Panels at the EGM will seek to illuminate the relationship between quality education and progress on other SDGs (8, 10, 13, 16 and 17) under review during the 2019 HLPF.

This EGM is part of a series of preparatory meetings for the SDGs under review.
