The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Secretariat is organizing, and the Russian Federation is hosting, the 2015 Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Energy Integration for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific. The meeting, which will focus on the development of the energy sector in the region, will include sessions on: the current state of the energy sector, emerging trends, energy security and sustainable use of energy; progress under the Asian and Pacific Energy Forum (APEF) Plan of Action and Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative; transboundary power trade for efficiencies, energy security and integration of variable renewables; and access to modern energy services. The experiences and case studies shared during this meeting will inform the 2016 edition of the Regional Trends Report, which will focus on transboundary power trade and energy access.
