Under the auspices of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP), the European sub-regional Soil Partnership (ESP) was launched during the 2nd Global Soil Week in October 2013, and its Secretariat is based at the European Commission's Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy. This workshop follows the finalization of a five year rolling sub-regional Implementation Plan during the second Plenary Meeting of the ESP that took placed in March 2015 in Rome, Italy. The Implementation Plans call for regular follow up workshops as part of GSP's goal of ensuring concrete field action at regional, national and local levels.
