European Regional Consultation on Accountability for the Post-2015 Development Agenda

This Regional Ministerial Consultation on ‘Monitoring and Accountability for the Post-2015 Development Agenda – The Regional Dimension' will discuss: the role of the regional level in the monitoring and accountability framework for the post-2015 development agenda; options for the scope and modalities of regional reviews; and linkages with global and national mechanisms. Panels will take place on: options for a multi-layered accountability mechanism for the post-2015 development agenda; lessons from existing mechanisms, including peer review mechanisms and other performance and periodic reviews; linkages with national and global accountability, including the role of national reports in the review process; and scope and process of regional accountability mechanisms. The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Regional UN Development Group (UNDG) for Europe and Central Asia are organizing the meeting, which will be chaired by the Government of Switzerland. The meeting will result in a Chair's Summary, which will provide a regional input into the intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 agenda and inform the UN Secretary-General's Synthesis Report on the agenda.
