ESCAP SDG Week

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will hold a week dedicated to enhancing and deepening the understanding of the key challenges and solutions for effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region. The event will convene under the theme ‘Innovation – Integration – Inclusiveness. Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.’

Over the course of five days, SDG Week will bring together stakeholders from government, academia, the international community, civil society and the private sector, providing them with an enabling environment for knowledge sharing, building partnerships and engaging in technical discussions on sustainable development.

The Week aims to strengthen capacity and increase momentum for SDG implementation in the region through the sharing of experiences and knowledge, and showcasing innovative, integrated and inclusive approaches. The event will seek to facilitate the discussion of tools, support and partnerships available, including from ESCAP, to overcome bottlenecks and enhance the understanding of opportunities for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in line with the regional road map for Asia and the Pacific.

Adopted at the Fourth Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in 2017, the road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda identifies priority areas of regional cooperation for the means of implementation and partnerships, as well as six thematic areas, including leaving no one behind, climate change, connectivity, disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience, management of natural resources, and energy.
