Eighth Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-VIII)

The Eighth Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-VIII) will focus on the theme, ‘Stepping Up Climate Action for Resilient Economies in Africa’. The event convenes in preparation for the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019, seeking to respond to the call by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on all leaders to come to the Summit with “concrete, realistic plans” to enhance their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by 2020, in line with reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 45% over the next decade, and to net zero emissions by 2050. Participation is by invitation only.

The Conference, organized by the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC), convenes each year under the auspices of the Climate for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) Programme. ClimDev-Africa is a consortium of key African development institutions, including the UN Economic Commission (UNECA), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB)
