ECOSOC Financing for Development (FfD) Forum – Inaugural Session

The inaugural session of the Forum on Financing for Development follow-up (FfD Forum), organized by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), will discuss issues pertaining to the follow-up to the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3), and the implementation of its outcome, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA). The Forum will consist of up to five days, one of which will be the special high-level meeting with the Bretton Woods Institutions, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as additional institutional and other stakeholders. The intergovernmentally agreed conclusions and recommendations of the Forum will be fed into the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The deliberations of ECOSOC's Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) will also be taken into account. On 14 March 2016, ECOSOC decided that the Forum will run for three days in 2016, without prejudice to duration of future meetings of the Forum. It also agreed that the theme of the 2016 Forum will be 'Financing for sustainable development: follow-up to the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA).' Side events during the Forum will include a high-level panel discussion on 'Financing for Development Follow-Up in the Asia-Pacific Region: Agenda for implementation of regional priorities': http://www.unescap.org/events/apffd-nyc
