ECOSOC Dialogue on Longer-Term Positioning of UN Development System – Workshop 1

This is the first of seven workshops organized as part of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the UN development system. It will focus on functions, and discuss: the evolution of functions of the UN development system; innovative organizational responses to adapt to changes; and expectations related to the functions of the UN development system in the post-2015 era. The dialogue seeks to inform the outcome of the next UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution on the Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) – the mechanism through which the UNGA assesses the effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and impact of the UN Development system. Based on ECOSOC resolution 2014/14, it needs to take into account the post-2015 development agenda.
