E-Discussion on Building Trust through Enhanced Transparency and Accountability

This online consultation will discuss best practices for companies in measuring their contribution to advancing global sustainability goals, including tools and resources needed to advance standard measurement practices. It will also explore how certification schemes, measurement practices and reporting standards can be used to help companies enhance legitimacy and build trust as they engage in efforts to achieve sustainable development. This consultation is part of a series of consultations on ‘Engaging with the Private Sector' that will be conducted globally, regionally, nationally and online. The consultations will address five themes: developing government policies that drive corporate sustainability; enhancing partnerships; mobilizing private sustainability finance; localizing the architecture of SME engagement; and building trust through enhanced transparency and accountability. The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the UN Global Compact serve as the co-leaders of this consultation. The consultations are expected to result in a final report that synthesizes the e-debate and the global, regional and national consultations. Twitter: #privatesector2015.
