This conference will provide a forum for examining the efficacy of national strategies for capacity-building measures related to disaster risk reduction (DRR), with a focus on cross- and multi-disciplinary training efforts, education and professional development. While capacity building is critical to disaster preparedness, response and sustainable post-disaster reconstruction programmes, no agreed definition of the term currently exists. Thus, this conference will explore what the term “capacity building” means.
