Covenant of Mayors Information Event on Urban Adaptation

The information event on urban adaptation to climate change, titled 'Supporting local climate solutions – Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in practice: adaptation in the spotlight,' will present current challenges of urban adaptation, provide relevant information on adaptation from practitioners and peers and help local authorities find answers to specific questions relating to urban adaptation. The integrated Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy was launched in October 2015 and merges the Covenant of Mayors and Mayors Adapt initiatives. Stemming from the role that cities and urban areas play in the implementation of the Paris Agreement, it provides a framework that helps build more sustainable and resilient cities. The event will be followed by a complementary workshop 'Supporting urban climate change adaptation with Cohesion policy funds and the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy' that will take place in the afternoon of the same day. Mayors Adapt is an initiative of the European Commission being implemented within the Covenant of Mayors, and supported by the European Environment Agency (EEA). It is linked to the European Climate Adaptation Platform (Climate-ADAPT), a partnership between the European Commission and the EEA.
