Central Africa GEF Constituency Workshop and CBD Regional Workshop on Biodiversity and Finance in Support of the Nagoya Outcomes

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Central Africa Constituency Workshop is taking place consecutively with a capacity-building workshop organized by the CBD Secretariat. The GEF event, the Central Africa Region Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) will bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from GEF agencies, in order to keep these stakeholders abreast of GEF strategies, policies and procedures and to encourage coordination. There will be an opportunity to interact with staff from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies to discuss priority issues and share lessons and experiences from the development and implementation of GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks. The CBD workshop will focus on: the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing; the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and national biodiversity strategies and action plans; review of implementation of the CBD's Strategy for Resource Mobilization; and innovative financing for biodiversity and ecosystem services.
