Caribbean Sub-regional Capacity-Building Workshop on Mainstreaming Biosafety into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans and Resource Mobilization

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop aims to enhance the capacity of Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety from the Caribbean Region to integrate biosafety concerns into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs). The second objective of the workshop is to build Parties' capacity to identify and mobilize resources for implementation. Participants will also address: the Protocol's status of implementation in the Caribbean; the Protocol's Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and the CBD Aichi Biodiversity Targets and their implementation in the region; public awareness, education and participation concerning living modified organisms (LMOs); and ratification and implementation of the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress.
