The Budapest Water Summit 2016 will build on the results of the Budapest Water Summit 2013, the Paris Climate Change Conference and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Summit will seek to ensure that efforts addressing water issues are the source of cooperation, peace and development in all countries that have a stake in sustainable development, rather than being the cause of global risks and further conflicts in the 21st century. The Budapest Water Summit 2016 will address issues related to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all). In addition, stakeholder meetings will convene on the following themes: Science-Technology Forum; Youth Forum; Civil Society Forum; and Women's Forum. Participants are expected to adopt the “Budapest Statement 2016” at the conclusion of the Summit.
