The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN Educational and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) launched the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development in 2015 to highlight the power of information and communications technology (ICT) and broadband-based technologies for sustainable development. The Commissioners, who represent leaders in industry, government, international agencies, academia, and other organizations concerned with development, will meet on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly (UNGA).
