Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development 2016

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is convening the third session of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD 2016). The meeting is expected to define a regional road map towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2016 Forum will engage UN Member States, UN institutions, and other stakeholders in discussing regional priorities for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Asia and the Pacific, reflecting ESCAP's mandate for follow-up and review. It will make recommendations on scientific and technological innovation for sustainable development, and on making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Recommendations from the Forum will inform the global debate at the 2016 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The Forum will include the launch of the ESCAP report, titled 'Transformations for Sustainable Development,' and associated events on SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation, and on SDG 10 on inequalities. A panel discussion on the Global Partnership on Sustainable Development Data also will take place, organized by the World Bank and partners. The Asia-Pacific Civil Society Forum on Sustainable Development will convene from 31 March-2 April 2016, also in Bangkok, as a preparatory event for the APFSD.
